Race 1 - AVESTAPOLARIT STAINLESS SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN - 1000 metres:

Mr. A. Waymouth, trainer of "Street Mate", was severely reprimanded for adding a girth cover to the gear of that filly subsequent to D. Taggart weighing out.

On jumping away "Rusty's Revenge" and "Direct Credit" came together due to both horses jumping away awkwardly and shifting ground.

In the middle stages of the race "Direct Credit" laid in.

Also in the middle stages of the race "Tycoon George" had to be eased when over-racing.

Race 2 - ATLAS STEELS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN - 1600 metres:

Near the 600 metres "The Mighty Lions (NZ)" brushed the rail when being eased off the heels of "Tio Belle (NZ)".

Rounding the home turn "The Mighty Lions (NZ)" and "Tio Belle" were both held up when unable to obtain clear runs.

A. Findlay, rider of "Tio Belle (NZ)", explained to the Stewards that after getting back in the field he was held up for a run rounding the home turn. Findlay added that he believed he had then ridden the filly with his normal vigour in the straight. Whilst accepting his explanation the Stewards notified him that his riding over the concluding stages of the race had lacked sufficient vigour, and that he would be required to ride all his mounts out with his normal vigour to the end of the race in future. A veterinary examination of "Tio Belle (NZ)" revealed no apparent abnormality.

Race 3 - AUSTRAL WRIGHT METALS MAIDEN - 1300 metres:

"Ignite the Turf" and "In the Wings" both bolted on their riders, and galloped for some distance before being returned to the start. The Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, withdrew "Ignite the Turf" and "In the Wings" from the event at 1.37 p.m.

As result of this the start of the race was delayed.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Ignite the Turf" and "In the Wings" be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Ignite the Turf" and "In the Wings" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: Five cents; Place Bets: Seven cents; Winning Concession Bets: Five cents and Doubles Bets: Five cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be paid at face value of the ticket.

An inquiry into P. Sarlo's use of the whip on "Closharni" in the straight was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Race 4 - FAGERSTA THREE-YEARS-OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

No report.

Race 5 - ASSDA STAINLESS INDUSTRY HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Near the 1000 metres "Another Neptune" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Gold Boom", which shifted in slightly, and "Sunny Glow (NZ)", which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out.

Rounding the home turn "Callandoon" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Gold Boom", which shifted in slightly, and "Knockroe" (G. Mathrick), which shifted out under pressure. G. Mathrick was reprimanded, and notified that he must make a far greater effort to keep his mount straight in future.

Race 6 - SANDVIK CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Prior to correct weight the Stewards viewed the video of the start of the race, and interviewed R. Cartwright, rider of "Carnival Magic", before declaring correct weight.

"Carnival Magic", which was having its first start in blinkers, began awkwardly, struck the side of the gates, became unbalanced and then panicked and lost considerable ground. As "Carnival Magic" had not offended in ten starts previously, the Stewards took no direct action other than to issue an official warning that should "Carnival Magic" perform similarly it may be suspended from racing for a period.

Race 7 - UNITED STEEL SUPER VOBIS STAYERS SERIES CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 2025 metres:

"She's Hand Picked (NZ)", which had struck its head on the gate, was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

"She's Hand Picked (NZ)" got its head up when being eased after passing the winning post the first time, and lost ground.

"Eye Ball" was held up for some distance approaching the home turn.

In the early part of the straight "Rhapsody in Red" had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

"Master George", which had been restless in its stall, was found to have a haematoma on the near shoulder on pulling up.

Race 8 - VALBRUNA AUSTRALIA PTY. LTD. CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 2025 metres:

"Marphil" jumped away awkwardly.

In the early part of the straight "Sealed Orders" had some difficulty obtaining a clear run.

For some distance after passing the 200 metres "Geiger Tiger" was unable to obtain a clear run.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from "Street Mate", winner of the Avestapolarit Stainless Super Vobis Three-Years-Old Maiden - Race 1; from "Callandoon", winner of the Assda Stainless Industry Handicap - Race 5; and from "Raami's Power", winner of the Valbruna Australia Pty Ltd. Class 1 Handicap - Race 8.

A random swab sample was taken from "Centarena (NZ)", winner of the Atlas Steels Fillies & Mares Maiden - Race 2 and also from "Willunga Lad", winner of the Sandvik Class 3 Handicap - Race 6..

Six horses were pre-race blood tested for post-race analysis.
