Race 1 - WATER SUPPLY SPECIALISTS SUPER VOBIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. M. McGaw, trainer of Big Polly in this race and Brown Eagle in race 3, who reported that the float transporting the horses had broken down en-route to the course and was unable to arrive, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Big Polly and Brown Eagle at 11.05am.

Acting on a report from the Starter that Fashion Fiona had proved difficult to load into the Barriers, the Stewards notified Mr. G. Lamb, trainer of Fashion Fiona that an official warning would be placed on the filly and that he must produce a Barrier's Certificate in respect of Fashion Fiona prior to it racing again.

Fashion Fiona was slow to begin.

Race 2 - PAINTERS POT COLAC MAIDEN PLATE 1100m

Mimax was slow to begin.

On jumping away, Blazing Plane shifted out and hampered Zero Control.

Approaching the 900 metres, Blazing Plane shifted in abruptly and inconvenienced Wahema. Near the 800 metres, Blazing Plane shied and became unbalanced. As a result, Wahema, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

Passing the 600 metres, Blazing Plane commenced to hang out and as a result had to be eased off the heels of Heroic Fraar. Wahema which was following then had to be eased off the heels of Blazing Plane.

Rounding the home-turn and in the early part of the straight, Hat Creek was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 3 - RHODES VETERINARY CLINIC MAIDEN PLATE 1600m

On jumping away, Pindarri's Fortune knuckled.

Rounding the home-turn, Bachelor's Theem was tightened for room by Dynamic Cruise, which was taken in by Pindarri's Fortune.

A Veterinary Examination subsequent to the race of Glen Robin, which had performed poorly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 4 - J & G. HOLT LAWN MOWER SALES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100m

On jumping away, Foot Tapper (NZ) and Rare and Smart both knuckled and almost fell.

Passing the 700 metres, Foot Tapper (NZ) was tightened for room by Dai Ruler, which was taken in slightly by Pretty Gaze.

Near the 600 metres, Aurora's Bluebell, which was over-racing had to be checked off the heels of Rare and Smart.

When questioned regarding her riding of Le Cheval Noir (NZ), Ms. B. Payne explained to the Stewards that in the early stages of the race, she believed there was something amiss with the gelding and for this reason got further out of her ground than she intended. Ms. B. Payne further stated that she rode her mount quiet in the middle stages of the race in an attempt to balance Le Cheval Noir (NZ), before then riding her mount along hands and heels rounding the home-turn and into the straight. A Veterinary Examination of Le Cheval Noir (NZ) subsequent to the race revealed no abnormality.

Race 5 - TROA CARLTON DRAUGHT TROPHY CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1100m

Coeur De Feu jumped away awkwardly.

At the entrance to the straight, Coeur De Feu had to be checked off the heels of Cici Stad (S.Vella), which shifted out when not sufficiently clear. S. Vella was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

Race 6 - STEPHENS MITRE 10 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600m

From the 500 metres until passing the 50 metres, Old Red was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - GREG ALLAN FARM MACHINERY CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600m

Never Decree threw its head up on jumping away and lost ground.

On the home-turn, Never Decree had to be eased to avoid the heels of Dame Jessie Bambra, which was weakening.

N. Wilson, rider of Royal Tango, which had performed below expectations, stated to the Stewards that the mare travelled well until approaching the 600 metres, when from that point she failed to respond to his riding. A Veterinary Examination subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 8 - BUDGET FURNISHINGS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 2000m

Turning out of the straight, My Colonial Lady, which was over-racing had to be eased off the heels of It's On Again. On the home-turn In Arms had to be eased when tightened for room between Arknavah and Endless Spirit, which shifted in slightly.

Race 1 - Liza Jane.
Race 2 - Wahema.
Race 3 - Wee Swelter (NZ).
Race 6 - Delta Run (IRE).
Race 7 - Warped.
