RACE 1 – TOWN & COUNTRY ROOFING DISTANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP:

Upon jumping away KILILIPI (Darren Holland) and TEXAN TRADER (B. Vale) brushed together.

RACE 2 – CVRC LADIES CANTEEN MAIDEN PLATE:

CONSCIENCE (W. Kerford) dwelt slightly when the gates were released.

BAY TREE LANE (B. Claridge) showed a tendency to lay in, under pressure, over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 3 –SABIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE:

CLAY ROSE was a late withdrawal at 2.18 p.m. after that filly became cast in the barrier stalls.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on CLAY ROSE be refunded. Bets on other runners made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 5 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 6 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are subject to the deductions.

Mrs. E. Seneca, Trainer of CLAY ROSE, was advised the mare was now stood down from racing for a period, until such time as it can prove in an official barrier trial that it can be tractable in the gates.

Upon jumping away CHEVALAE (B. Claridge) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in onto NEW YORK BELLE (D. Carney), resulting in that filly being hampered.

NEW YORK BELLE (D. Carney) showed a tendency to lay in for the entire race.

RACE 4 – CLARE LAWN TENNIS CLUB DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE:

MARCH IN STYLE, which was fractious in the barriers prior to the start, was subject to a Veterinary examination which revealed the gelding was fit to take its place in the field.

MARCH IN STYLE (J. Maund) jumped away awkwardly.

NASTIVE EDITION (B. Vale) and ROJO DIABLO (J. Lyon) were slow to begin.

Upon jumping away CAZBO (D. Tootell) shifted out onto WINDANA (S. Price), who in turn shifted out onto TOP OF THE MORNING (C. Buchiw), resulting in those three fillies bumping together for a short distance.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion EXCLAIMER (C. Lindop) raced ungenerously for a short distance.

In the vicinity of the 500 metres EXCLAIMER (C. Lindop) shifted out slightly onto REDDORFFAN (J. Lorensini), who in turn shifted out onto BLEVERA (Darren Holland), resulting in that filly being inconvenienced.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres EXCLAIMER (C. Lindop) was steadied for a short distance when tightened by REDDORFFAN (J. Lorensini) which shifted in slightly, and at the same time by BULL CREEK BABE (J. Potter), which rolled out.

Racing inside the 200 metres MARCH IN STYLE (J. Maund), who had been disappointed for a run inside HAPPEN CHANCE (M. Hoppo), shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of that mare and contacted REDDORFFAN (J. Lorensini), resulting in that mare being hampered and taken wider.

J. Maund was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

ROJO DIABLO (J. Lyon) was eased out of the race over the concluding 200 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no visible abnormalities.

A Veterinary examination of WINDANA subsequent to the event revealed that the filly had sustained a laceration to its near hind leg, which required treatment.

RACE 5 – TRELOARS RESTAURANT CLASS 2 HANDICAP:

ROCKY MOUNT (A. Stead) was slow to begin.

COLLEGE STRIKE (NZ) (B. Claridge), which had been hard ridden for some distance, was disappointed for clear ground shortly after straightening, for a short distance, when caught behind the tiring MISSION TIME (D. Tootell).

RACE 6 – ELDERS INSURANCE LTD. HANDICAP:

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres LE MANS (J. O’Connor) raced ungenerously for a short distance when the pace slackened.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres KASTABON (NZ) (D. Carney) shifted in, resulting in BITSKI (C. Buchiw), which had been racing keenly, having to be steadied.

D. Carney was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

Racing to the 100 metres M. Hoppo, rider of MAHATMA, dropped his off side rein and was unable to gather it until approaching the winning post.

RACE 7 – COLIN COOK FAMILY ENTERPRISES / SABIS 3 YO CLASS 1 HANDICAP:

AURORA LIGHT (J. Maund) and CEZANTE (S. Price) were slow to begin.

STACK THE DECK (D. Tootell) raced ungenerously, with its head in the air, in the middle stages of the race.

Over the concluding 100 metres IDENTIFIABLE (B. Vale) shifted out slightly under riding, resulting that gelding brushing CEZANTE (S. Price) approaching the finish.

Subsequent to the event, on pulling up, STATE LIMIT shifted in abruptly near the 1200 metres, dislodging its rider J. Lyon and crashing through the running rail. J. Lyon was uninjured in the incident, and a Veterinary examination of STATE LIMIT revealed the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.
