RACE 1 SMOKE-FREE COLTS, GELDINGS
& ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP:

(W. Kerford) were slow to begin.
PANTINNY PUPPA (B. Vale) showed a tendency
to lay out in the middle stages of the event.
RACE 2 KELLYS SPRAYING
SERVICES FLYING HANDICAP:
COSSACK LAW (T. Creek) raced keenly in the
early and middle stages of the event.
COSSACK LAW (T. Creek) was held up for a
clear run for a short distance approaching the home turn.
RACE 3 BENTLEYS HOTEL
MOTEL/SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE:
Correct Weight was delayed in being
semaphored for this event to allow D. Tootell, rider of ACT SURE 2nd
Placegetter, to view the head-on film over the concluding stages of the race. After doing
so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.
BLAZING GREIG (C. Buchiw) was slow to
begin.
In the vicinity of the 700 metres DESERT
GHOST (C. Lindop), which was racing greenly, shifted out, resulting in KOODA CHINTA (B.
Claridge), DEMOLITION DAME (L. Smith) and VICHENO (J. Holder), which were racing outside
of DESERT GHOST, all being inconvenienced. As a result of this incident GOLD ISLAND (H.
McKechnie), which was racing outside of VICHENO, was hampered and forced wider on the
track.
Racing to the 600 metres GRAB A GRANNIE (M.
Neilson), which had been racing greenly, shifted in slightly, resulting in DESERT GHOST
(C. Lindop) being tightened and having to be steadied.
M. Neilson was advised by Stewards of his
obligations when shifting ground.
Racing inside the 500 metres THREAD (Darren
Holland) had to be eased from the heels of DESERT GHOST (C. Lindop). Shortly after THREAD
shifted out to improve its position, resulting in KOODA CHINTA (B. Claridge) being taken
out, making contact with VICHENO (J. Holder). As a result, KOODA CHINTA and VICHENO both
became unbalanced for a short distance.
Darren Holland was advised by Stewards of
his obligations when shifting ground.
In the vicinity of the 400 metres MISS
SHOSHANA (W. Kerford) shifted out slightly, resulting in DESERT GHOST (C. Lindop) having
to be eased.
Racing inside the 400 metres until in the
vicinity of the home turn BLAZING GREIG (C. Buchiw) was trapped behind the tiring MISS
SHOSHANA (W. Kerford).
RACE 4 SUNSMART MAIDEN PLATE:
Correct Weight was delayed in being
semaphored for this event to allow W. Kerford, rider of MECHANIC 3rd
Placegetter, to view the Official Photo-Finish for 2nd. After doing so, in
conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.
KENNY LAD (J. Maund) jumped away awkwardly.
TAPPERS (J. OConnor) was slow to
begin and showed no early pace.
DOLPHIN LOVER, which was restless in the
gates and reared prior to the start, was subject to a Veterinary examination, which
revealed that gelding was fit to take its place in the field.
TAPPERS, which was in the adjacent stall to
DOLPHIN LOVER, was also subject to a Veterinary examination, which revealed that mare was
fit to take its place in the field.
In the vicinity of the 600 metres GALAXY
DOVE (H. McKechnie) and LA PASSIONARA (S. Price) brushed together, resulting in LA
PASSIONARA shifting in slightly. As a result, JONS LISA (D. Azis), which was racing
on the inside of LA PASSIONARA, shifted in and away abruptly from that mare, making
contact with the running rail and having to be checked, and losing its position. D. Azis,
rider of JONS LISA, reported to Stewards that in the incident the mare was extremely
reluctant to hold its position when racing tight inside of LA PASSIONARA. As a result of
JONS LISA losing its position, RANGERINE (J. Potter), which was following that mare,
was forced to change direction to avoid JONS LISA.
In the vicinity of the 400 metres DOLPHIN
LOVER (M. Neilson), which was racing extremely greenly and shifting ground, shifted in
under riding, resulting in RANGERINE (J. Potter), which had improved quickly on the inside
of DOLPHIN LOVER, clipping that geldings heels and dipping.
M. Neilson, rider of DOLPHIN LOVER, was
advised by Stewards under similar circumstances he must act more quickly and in a more
positive manner.
LEMOXIE (J. Holder) hung out rounding the
home turn.
In the vicinity of the 100 metres ALASKAN
CHAPEL (NZ) (Murray Henderson) shifted in under riding, resulting in LA PASSIONARA (S.
Price), which was weakening, being tightened.
RACE 5 SABIS FILLIES &
MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP SPRING SERIES (Heat 4):
In the vicinity of the 600 metres ESPRIT DE
FURY (C. Buchiw) became unbalanced for a short distance when racing tight between RED
COLLEEN (C. Lindop) on its inside, and ABSCENE (S. Price) on its outside.
In the vicinity of the 300 metres WINESONG
(Darren Holland) commenced to take a tight run between RED COLLEEN (C. Lindop) and ESPRIT
DE FURY (C. Buchiw), resulting in WINESONG clipping the heels of ESPRIT DE FURY and
dipping.
Darren Holland, rider of WINESONG, was
warned by Stewards of the practice of taking runs where there was insufficient room.
A swab sample was taken from PRETTY EDGY,
winner of the race.
RACE 6 GAWLER COLOURWORLD
CLASS 5 HANDICAP:
D. Azis replaced J. Nevin as the rider of
KEEPALANTE, when that rider became indisposed due to illness.
GABRIELS FIRE (M. Neilson) jumped
away awkwardly.
RACE 7 ALCOHOL GO-EASY
DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE:
Upon jumping away MILITARY EDITION (J.
OConnor) jumped outwards onto MARIZZIQUE (H. McKechnie), who in turn shifted out
onto PROUD GAZE (J. Holder).
On jumping away EDELMAN (T. Creek) shifted
out, resulting in that gelding brushing DEFINING (M. Neilson), who shifted out, brushing
KAKARU (NZ) (S. Price).
In the vicinity of the 1300 metres BORNEO
BEAUTY (B. Claridge), when being eased, shifted out abruptly, resulting in MAID TO KEEP
(W. Kerford), which was racing outside of BORNEO BEAUTY, clipping that fillys heels
and having to shift out abruptly, resulting in W. Kerford becoming extremely unbalanced
and MAID TO KEEP being severely hampered and losing its position. In consequence,
SADLERS ROAD (J. Lorensini), which was racing outside of MAID TO KEEP and MILITARY
EDITION (J. OConnor), which were racing outside of SADLERS ROAD, was also
hampered and forced wider on the track.
Mr. J. Dunn, Trainer of BORNEO BEAUTY, was
advised that a warning had been placed on the filly in relation to its racing
tractability, and a repetition would lead to action being taken against it. |
