RACE 1: CHANNEL 7 HANDICAP

WILL SOAR (B Vale) knuckled on jumping away.

Shortly after jumping away I KEN (J Potter) got its head up and laid out onto BAD BOY BUCK (J Bowditch) taking that gelding out onto MADE FOR REAL (D Tootell), which shifted out and tightened CLASSIC DREAM (P Gatt) onto WINSOME WILLY (D Azis), resulting in WINSOME WILLY clipping the heels of CLASSIC DREAM.

Near the 1500 metres SMYTZER’S SMYTZER (NZ) (D O’Heare) was obliged to steady off the heels of JEUNE’S MARK (S Price), which had been taken in by the winner DORFLI (A Findlay). A Findlay was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

WILL SOAR suffered a laceration to its near hind leg during the race.

RACE 2: WILBURTINS BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE BROKERS HANDICAP

LUSKIN’S PROUD (D Azis) jumped away awkwardly.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres BELLOTTO PRINCESS (B Claridge) was hampered by CHEVITA (D Holland), which shifted out under pressure.

PURE GOLD suffered a laceration to the near hind tendon during the race.

RACE 3: GRENFELL HI-FI HANDICAP

As the gates opened CORPS COMMANDER (D Smith) was inclined to rear and was slow to jump.

PEAT BOG (W Kerford) knuckled on jumping away.

At the entrance to the straight CORPS COMMANDER (D Smith), whilst trailing SUNBURY (S Baster), was held up momentarily.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres ONYX RIVER (J Maund) was obliged to steady away from the heels of PEAT BOG (W Kerford), which shifted out.

RACE 4: THE MAGIC MILLIONS ADELAIDE 2YO CLASSIC

Prior to the start MAGRAVINE, which had thrown itself down in the mounting yard, was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

The start of the race was delayed owing to WYNDAM GLORY, which had struck its head after being loaded, being subjected to a Veterinary inspection. He was ruled fit to start.

HYDROMETER (J Holder) jumped away awkwardly and shortly afterwards was severely hampered when contacted by FREEHILL (NZ) (J Patton), which shifted out.

Near the 1100 metres, HYDROMETER (J Holder) was forced to steady to avoid the heels of ANACARDE (P Gatt), which was taken in by DARK HORIZON (A Findlay), which had commenced to race keenly, and shifted in.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres DARK HORIZON (A Findlay), which continued to race fiercely, was forced to steady off the heels of RED LABELLE (J Bowditch).

Inside the 200 metres MILKSHAKE (P Mertens) shifted in under riding and inconvenienced DARK HORIZON (A Findlay). In being steadied, DARK HORIZON shifted in and inconvenienced IT’S WHO DEANIE (S Baster).

Approaching the finish, RED LABELLE (J Bowditch) was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of D O’Heare, the rider of RACHAEL’S PRIDE.

P Mertens, the rider of MILKSHAKE, reported that his saddle had shifted during the race.

On return to scale, J Bowditch, the rider of the fourth placegetter RED LABELLE, requested to view the official footage over the concluding stages. After having done so J Bowditch declined to lodge an objection and Correct Weight was duly notified.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of FREEHILL (NZ) revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 5: GAWLER PARK STUD HANDICAP

On jumping away, SKIING (D Azis) jumped out and inconvenienced DEVIL IN DISGUISE (C Lever).

Inside the 100 metres STRETTA (W Kerford) was ridden out and contacted NOBILITY (L Meech) resulting in that gelding being hampered. W Kerford was advised of his obligations.

Subsequent to the race LIQUID LUNCH was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported slight lameness in the off foreleg.

RACE 6: SWETTENHAM STUD STAKES

The start of this race was delayed owing to SHAYE SPICE, which had been restless in gates, undergoing a Veterinary inspection and was ruled fit to start.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres, TRUE JEWELS (J Bowditch) got its head up and was inclined to lay away from SHAYE SPICE (P Mertens) and as a result TRUE JEWELS shifted in tightening COSMIC STRIKE (T Creek), which was obliged to check and lose its position.

Inside the 900 metres COSMIC STRIKE (T Creek) was obliged to ease to avoid the heels of RAJA LANE (C Lever), which shifted in.

Near the 700 metres, RAJA LANE (C Lever), which had commenced to race fiercely, was forced to check when tightened by AGALIA (G Dorol), which shifted, and SHAYE SPICE (P Mertens), which rolled out.

Near the 200 metres, REGAL KISS (J Holder) shifted out and contacted LA LAGUNE (S Price) resulting in that filly being inconvenienced. J Holder was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 7: C S HAYES MEMORIAL CUP

AVIATE was withdrawn by Stewards at 10.35 am acting on Veterinary advice that the gelding had a stone bruise in the near fore foot.

LORD KINGSTON (C Lever) was slow to jump.

OXFORD DOLLAR (B Claridge) jumped away awkwardly.

At the entrance to the straight BORDER TIME (P Gatt) shifted out and contacted EXALTED LAD (J Maund). Shortly after, BORDER TIME, in continuing to shift out, was taken out marginally by REAL TIME (J Lorensini), which was inclined to lay out under pressure, resulting in BORDER TIME and EXALTED LAD continuing to brush until the 200 metres. P Gatt was severely reprimanded for continuing to apply pressure to EXALTED LAD.

Approaching the finish REAL TIME (J Lorensini) shifted in resulting in SPICE DOLL (J Holder) being obliged to ease and shift to that gelding’s outside.

On return to scale J Maund the rider of the third placegetter EXALTED LAD and J Holder, the rider of the fourth placegetter SPICE DOLL, requested to view the footage of the concluding stages. After doing so neither rider took the option of lodging an objection and Correct Weight was duly declared.

RACE 8: JAYCO CARAVANS HANDICAP

Mr T McEvoy, trainer of NEWTOWN JET (USA), was questioned regarding his being unable to provide a clearance for the horse as required under the Rules. After interviewing Mr J Singleton, the owner of NEWTOWN JET (USA), and Mr T McEvoy, Stewards received an undertaking from Mr Singleton, who had bred the horse, that NEWTOWN JET (USA) was under no disability in accordance with the Rules. Stewards permitted NEWTOWN JET (USA) to start. Mr McEvoy was advised that, in similar circumstances, a penalty might be incurred in future.

The start of this race was delayed owing to KURT (J Bowditch) proving reluctant to travel to the barriers. Miss D Seater, representing the trainer of the horse Mr P Seater, was advised that future repetitions of KURT’s behaviour would lead to action being taken against it.

WHAT REPORT (J. Potter) was slow to jump.

Near the 1000 metres, ALL CHEER (D Azis) clipped the heels of TRIMAHA (J Holder), which shifted in. J Holder was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

Near the 200 metres, BRICKLIN’S BROTHER (L Meech) shifted in and tightened DINAAR (NZ) (S Price).
