the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.
ROMANTIC LASS (S. Price) and ZIP TOP (M.
Hoppo) were both slow to jump.
LIFELONG DREAM (P. Gatt) jumped away
awkwardly.
Approaching the 400 metres FUJI LASS
(Darren Holland), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in, resulting in SLEEK FIGHTER (J.
Bowditch) being obliged to steady off its heels.
In the vicinity of the 300 metres COUNTER
SUE (J. Holder) shifted out, resulting in ON THE STEEL (G. Dorol) being obliged to check
off its heels.
J. Holder was severely reprimanded and
advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future.
Subsequent to the race ON THE STEEL, ZIP
TOP and FUJI LASS were inspected by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon who reported no
visible abnormalities.
RACE 2: HONDA CR-V MAIDEN PLATE (1st
Division)
OGDOAD (W. Kerford) was slow to jump.
In the vicinity of the 700 metres OGDOAD
(W. Kerford), which had commenced to race keenly when being steadied, shifted out and had
to be restrained off the heels of ZIP THEA (Darren Holland).
Near the 500 metres OGDOAD (W. Kerford) was
inclined to race greenly and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ZIP THEA (Darren
Holland).
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of ZIP THEA revealed that the filly was exhibiting an irregular heartbeat. Mr.
D. Jolly, Trainer of ZIP THEA, was advised that the results of an ECG examination would be
required to be forwarded to the TRSA Veterinary Surgeon prior to the filly successfully
completing an official barrier trial, before accepting for a future event.
Subsequent to the race OGDOAD was inspected
by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon who reported the gelding to be lame in the near hind
leg.
RACE 3: MALAYSIA AIRLINES MAIDEN
PLATE
M. Hoppo was notified as the rider of TASS.
Prior to this event BLEVENCIA, which had
competed at Clare on Sunday 10th March, was examined by the Clubs
Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.
The start of this event was delayed owing
to the tongue tie having to be replaced on REGION (NZ).
TASS (M. Hoppo) jumped away awkwardly.
MY GIDDY AUNT (D. Carney) jumped away
awkwardly and shifted in, tightening BLEVENCIA (J. Lorensini) onto BLAZES (B. Claridge),
which was hampered and taken in onto GEIGER GOLD (J. Holder), which was inconvenienced.
In the vicinity of the 1500 metres FULL OF
RED (W. Kerford), which was inclined to lay in, brushed the running rail and lost
momentum. In consequence GEIGER GOLD (J. Holder) was obliged to steady off its heels and
shifted out, resulting in BLAZES (B. Claridge) having to steady and lose its position.
J. Maund, rider of FOX HELIOS, reported
that in the vicinity of the 1500 metres, while being restrained, the gelding got its head
up and commenced to over-race. He added that despite his efforts FOX HELIOS refused to
settle thereafter.
Near the 400 metres BLEVENCIA (J.
Lorensini) rolled in and brushed FULL OF RED (W. Kerford).
REGION (NZ) lost its near hind plate during
the race.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of SMEE SISTER revealed that the filly was exhibiting an irregular heartbeat.
Mr. I. Thomas, Trainer of SMEE SISTER, was advised that the results of an ECG examination
would be required to be forwarded to the TRSA Veterinary Surgeon prior to the filly
successfully completing an official barrier trial, before accepting for a future event.
RACE 4: JAYCO CARAVANS CLASS 1
HANDICAP
MOTRICE (J. Bowditch) was slow to
jump.
CACCIANI (NZ) (B. Claridge) jumped away
awkwardly.
Near the 500 metres ARCH HENRY (J. Marks)
raced onto the heels of MOTRICE (J. Bowditch) and was obliged to steady.
At the entrance to the straight MOTRICE (J.
Bowditch) commenced to hang out and shortly after shifted out tightening FLY FOR ME (J.
Potter) onto the hindquarters of KYMATT (P. Gatt), resulting in that gelding being turned
in and FLY FOR ME having to be checked and lose its position.
Inside the 300 metres TAHNEE (J. Holder),
which was inclined to lay out under pressure, shifted out onto the heels of ARCH HENRY (J.
Marks), which rolled in under pressure.
Correct Weight was delayed to allow J.
Holder, rider of the 5th Placegetter TAHNEE, to view the official footage in
the straight. After doing so J. Holder declined the option of lodging an objection.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of MOTRICE revealed that the mare had severe lacerations to both hind legs,
requiring First Aid.
RACE 5: ALCOHOL GO-EASY CLASS 3
HANDICAP
WILLIAM OF OZ, which had an abrasion above
its near side eye, was examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race
and ruled fit to start.
MADE FOR REAL (J. Bowditch) jumped inwards
at the start and hampered ESPRIT DE JEUNE (C. Buchiw).
In the vicinity of the 500 metres IMPERIAL
CHARTER (J. Maund) was eased out of the race.
NASARA sustained a laceration to the off
hind flexor tendon area during the race, which required First Aid.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of IMPERIAL CHARTER revealed the gelding was suffering was respiratory
distress.
Mr. M. Nunan, Trainer of IMPERIAL CHARTER,
was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before the
gelding is accepted for a future event.
RACE 6: CLIPSAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP
On arrival at the start BAROSSA CAN CAN was
examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare to be lame, owing to
an abrasion and swelling in the wither. Acting on that Veterinary advice Stewards withdrew
BAROSSA CAN CAN at 3.42 p.m.
Stewards ruled that all monies invested on
BAROSSA CAN CAN be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be
paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 19 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE - 16 cents in the dollar.
SP Bets are subject to the deductions.
Near the 900 metres RHONDAS GIRL (J.
Marks) brushed the running rail and lost its position when tightened by NIGHT DRIVER (J.
Potter), which was inclined to lay in and shift away while racing tight inside COMPENDIUM
(W. Kerford).
Approaching the 200 metres ROSE OF CAITLIN
(D. Tootell) was held up for a short distance after being disappointed when attempting a
run between SARAGAT (G. Dorol) on its outside, and SIR TANJIL (B. Claridge), which was
inclined to lay out, on its inside.
RACE 7: SMOKE-FREE CLASS 4 HANDICAP
Stewards will seek an explanation from Mr.
R. Cameron, Trainer of TUSCOLA, regarding his late notification of rider for the gelding.
J. Holder was notified as the rider of
TAILIGHT (NZ).
In the vicinity of the 900 metres OXFORD
REGENT (S. Price) got its head up and raced ungenerously for a considerable distance.
Near the 700 metres ROMEOS PRINCESS
(P. Gatt) was taken wider and obliged to steady off the heels of CLEAR OPTION (D. Carney)
as that gelding was taken out by SQUILLANI (J. Bowditch).
RACE 8: CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE
(2nd Division)
Shortly after the start DING DOR (C.
Buchiw) rolled in and inconvenienced SHANGHAI MOON (NZ) (S. Price).
