slow to begin. Rounding the home turn Appian shifted out to improve to the outside

overweight (AR145).

from trainer Mr V. Jones to permit App. Pollard to retain the engagement. Soothsayer
jumped awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on Sri
Lanka C. Munce stated that approaching the 500m he was unable to come to the outside
of runners as he believed he would have caused interference to Serdia, which was
racing to his outside. He added that at the entrance to the straight when endeavouring to
improve to the outside of Stroda that runner shifted out resulting in Sri Lanka
being unable to obtain that run. C. Munce further added that the slow early pace and the
sprint home had not been to the mare's advantage.
RACE 3: Hystandard Forklifts Handicap
1100m:
Essembee and Launched were slow
to begin. Superfine jumped awkwardly. Approaching the first turn Launched
hung out and continued to do so for the remainder of the race. Trainer Mr A. Denham was
advised that a warning would be placed against the racing manners of Launched. At
the 700m Secret Goldmine was steadied off the heels of Kenwood Allegro and
shifted out making contact with the hindquarters of Schahriar. Caipirinha,
which was following, was steadied in consequence. Approaching the 500m Essembee had
to be checked off the heels of Launched. A post-race veterinary examination of Launched
revealed no abnormality. Rounding the home turn Superfine became unbalanced and
struck the running rail when Kahayla shifted in slightly. Schahriar was
inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Trainers Mr B. Thomsen (Schahriar)
and Mr T. Holland (Secret Goldmine) were advised that warnings would be placed on
the barrier manners of their respective horses. A post-race veterinary examination of Italic,
which weakened after travelling wide, revealed no abnormality.

shifted in. Rounding the home turn Expresso Rose and Penniaire came together
as Expresso Rose shifted out to obtain clear running to the outside of the heels of
My Vanity Fair. Near the 200m Bounty's Angel became unbalanced and had to be

examination of Burdekin Lass revealed no abnormality.
RACE 5: Ashfield Catholic &
Community Club Handicap 1550m:
Shortly after the start Zebithea was
crowded between Clothilde and De Canny, both of which shifted ground. D.
Beasley could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance of Zebithea.
He stated that in his opinion the filly never travelled and was disappointing in its
failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination of Zebithea
revealed no abnormality. A swab sample was taken. Trainer Mr G. Walter advised that Zebithea
will now be spelled.
RACE 6: Paraquad Independence Plate
1200m:
For some distance passing the 700m Yantra

between Yantra and Zediver, then was shifted in across the heels of Yantra
to obtain clear running at the entrance to the straight. Modern was then obliged to
race in restricted room between Oriole and Fire Day over the concluding
stages. App. R. Brewer, rider of 6th placegetter, Khatanga, was reminded
of his obligation to test his mounts to the finish at least hands and heels. When
questioned regarding the performance of Iron Cross D. Beadman stated that the
gelding, which was resuming after a long spell, was never travelling comfortable and after
being obliged to race wide throughout was disappointing in its failure to run on. A
post-race veterinary examination of Iron Cross revealed no abnormality.

Spielberg being taken in onto Showzeel and Prince Hal, which made
contact with Zabenz. Near the 1300m Outrank had to be checked off the heels
of Big Bal Bowski and then when the pace slackened shifted out making contact with Port
Express taking that horse wider. Ausbred was unable to obtain clear running
until near the 50m. Alexfield was held up around the home turn and then was unable
