Race 1 - D. S. McCORMICK HURDLE - 3000 metres:

Approaching the 600 metres "Zabuan (NZ)" had to be eased over the heels of "Close Quarters", which shifted in

D. Crozier, rider of "Close Quarters", was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 500 metres when not sufficiently clear of "Latin Reign", resulting in that gelding, which was over-racing, having to be checked.

During the running of the race "Lesvos Ruler" suffered a bleeding attack. As it is the second occasion on which "Lesvos Ruler" has bled, it is now barred from racing.

Race 2 - OUT OF DANGER SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

An amended stable return was received for "Lashed" to show P. Hogan as the nominator of the filly.

D. Gauci, rider of "Saints Union (NZ)", stated that the colt did not handle the track conditions at any stage of the race.

Approaching the 200 metres "Regal Tess", which was giving ground, had to be checked when tightened for room between "Plenary Indulgence", which was laying out, and "Deputy Head", which shifted in abruptly after being brushed by "Fuji Dancer", which was laying in.

P. Mertens stated that "Dantana" hung out throughout and, as he believed there was something amiss with it, he eased it down over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3 - SURROUND HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Summer Rule" was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon at the barrier, and passed fit to run.

"Karla Keys" jumped away awkwardly, and knuckled shortly after the start.

On the home turn "Sundiata" (Mark Zahra) shifted out to improve its position and made contact with "Tanith" on two occasions. Zahra was reprimanded, and notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 4 - POETIC KING HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

"Classic Benbara", which was hanging in, had to be eased over the heels of "Mad Harry" approaching the 400 metres.

D. Short, rider of "Mr. Gold Flyer", was found guilty of a charge of having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Short was fined the sum of $400.

Race 5 - BEN CHAFFEY HANDICAP - 1800 metres:

For some distance after passing the 200 metres "Majestic Avenue" was disappointed for a run between "Captivator", which had shifted out, and "Yammer" where there was not quite sufficient room. "Majestic Avenue" then had to change course to obtain a clear run after passing the 100 metres.

Race 6 - PRIMACY HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

"Kashkii (NZ)" was slow to begin.

Race 7 - STORM QUEEN SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

"Penash (NZ)" jumped away awkwardly.

On return to scale it was noted that "Russian Caravan" had lost its near fore plate.

Race 8 - WALLACE SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 2428 metres:

S. Baster, rider of "Beach Symphony" which performed poorly, stated that the gelding did not handle the track conditions at any stage of the race. A veterinary examination of "Beach Symphony" failed to reveal any abnormality.
