Race 1 - POOLEY BRIDGE HURDLE - about 3000 metres:

"Our Grades (NZ)" was very slow to begin.

Turning out of the straight the saddle on "Treasure Island" shifted forward, placing P. Daniel at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

After turning out of the straight "Masterful Lad (NZ)", which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of "Noah Yarn".

W. Harnett, rider of "Sir Cool (NZ)", was found guilty of a charge of having used his whip in an improper manner in that over the concluding stages of the race he deliberately struck "Sir Cool (NZ)" in the vicinity of the head on a number of occasions. W. Harnett was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight tonight, and to expire at midnight on Wednesday, 12th June, 2002.

Race 2 - DELINA HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"Lottie's Pride" jumped away awkwardly, and lost a little ground.

Race 3 - CAULFIELD TABARET SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

"Sierra Madre" was re-saddled at the barrier.

Approaching the 600 metres L. Currie, rider of "Unbridled Secret", shifted out and inconvenienced "Lightning Rouge".

Race 4 - RICHFIELD LADY SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

"Nardoo Pegasus" began awkwardly, and lost a little ground.

Near the 600 metres "Summer Solstice" had to be eased off the heels of "Rhythm and Light", which shifted in slightly when tightened for room between that filly and "Nardoo Pegasus", which had shifted out.

For a short distance in the straight "Archmobile" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Near the 200 metres "Celtic Heights" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Desert Cristi", which was laying in, and after initially shifting in was taken in slightly by "White Mist", which shifted in.

Race 5 - ELLERSLIE HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Near the 1000 metres "Touch of Mahogany" was inconvenienced due to "Bergamia" shifting in slightly under pressure.

Near the 500 metres "Erudite", which was weakening, had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Leonard", which shifted in slightly.

Shortly after this incident "Erudite", which continued t9o weaken, had to be eased when tightened for room between "Pasteum" and "Samosiera", which was taken out slightly by "Bergamia".

Race 6 - ARK REGAL HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

After passing the 1000 metres "Zeigfried" was hampered when tightened for room between "Lake Villa" and "Ski Rhythm", which shifted out.

Race 7 - PROCOL HARUM SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Near the 900 metres "On Flight (NZ)" was tightened for room between "Seek the Silk", which shifted out slightly, and "Ocean Bridge", which was taken in by "Speaker".

Shortly after this incident "On Flight (NZ)" was taken out slightly by "Seek the Silk", and in turn bumped "Ocean Bridge" out on to the heel;s of "Speaker", which was shifting in slightly

After passing the 600 metres "Mr. Christopher", which was laying out, had to be checked off the heels of "On Flight (NZ)".

"Blue Wina" hung out rounding the home turn.

Approaching the winning post J. Winks, rider of "Twigum", was unable to ride his mount out due to being held up for a run.

Race 8 - FIRE BAND HANDICAP - 1440 metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call with Mr. M. Webb, stable foreman for Mr. S. Webb, trainer of "Broker's Point", who stated that the mare had an elevated temperature and a suspected respiratory complaint, the Stewards withdrew "Broker's Point" from this event at 11.12 a.m. Mr. Webb has submitted a veterinary certificate for the mare.

L. Currie, who was notified as the rider of both "Claret Damsel" and "Fashon Era", explained that due to a misunderstanding Mr. Vasil, trainer of "Fashion Era", had notified him as the rider of "Fashion Era".

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.

ADJOURNED INQUIRY:

An inquiry into the reason for the late notification of L. Currie as the rider of "Unbridled Secret", which ran in the Caulfield Tabaret Super Vobis Handicap - Race 3 - was adjourned to a date to be fixed. (Trainer: C. W. Little.)
