Race 1 - CAMPERDOWN VETERINARY CENTRE MAIDEN PLATE

On jumping away, and for some strides after the start, Hi
Handsome threw its head in the air and lost ground. Jemabelle began awkwardly. Rounding
the home-turn and in the early part of the straight, Millenium Model hung out and proved
difficult to ride. A. Spiteri, rider of Millenium Model was severely reprimanded for
failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. When asked if he could offer an
explanation for the marked improvement of Payjax, the winner, Mr. M. Laurence, Trainer of
the gelding stated that Payjax had always shown ability and had won a trial impressively
in the lead up to its first start at Colac. Mr. Laurence added that in his opinion the
horse was not suited to the conditions of the Colac track and appreciated the firmer
surface today. Mr. Laurence further added, that Payjax had continued to work well since
the Colac race and for this reason, he supported the horse on an each way basis today.
During the running of the race, Blazing Plane lost its near fore-plate.
        Race 2 - O.J. BANT MAIDEN PLATE
Kogle King was slow to begin. Shortly after the start,
Brown Eagle was tightened for room between Ski Aha and Ruaton (NZ) due to both horses

of the race, Idolise had a tendency to hang out.
Race 3 - BONNERS TRANSPORT SUPER VOBIS 3YO MAIDEN
        PLATE
        M. Evans, rider of Durability, explained that he pulled the
gelding up near the 1200 metres, as in his opinion, something was amiss with it. A
subsequent Veterinary Examination of Durability revealed that the gelding was lame in the
near fore-leg. Mr. R. Gravett, Trainer of Durability, was notified that prior to the
gelding racing again, he must produce a Veterinary Certificate of soundness and Durability
must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. In arriving at their decision, Stewards
took into account that Durability had pulled up lame at its previous start. On jumping
away, Smooth Enchanter (NZ) shifted in abruptly and took Outlet Creek in onto Glen Robin,
which in-turn, resulted in that gelding becoming unbalanced and bumping Smooth Enchanter.
Near the 1200 metres Smooth Enchanter became unbalanced when tightened for room between
Transferral which shifted out slightly and Outlet Creek which shifted in. Denis, which was
racing on the inside of Smooth Enchanter, was hampered in consequence. After passing the
1100 metres, Smooth Enchanter had to be checked when tightened for room between Lester
Thunderwing, which initially shifted out and Outlet Creek, which shifted in.

distance. Mr. J. Evans, Trainer of No Joke, was notified that the mare was suspended from

Certificate in respect of Drinkwater. Florina Plane jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after
the start, Sir Cool (NZ) was hampered when tightened for room by Waikiki Sunset (NZ),
which shifted out. Approaching and rounding the home-turn, Florina Plane was held up for a
run. Ms. M. Payne, rider of Colonel Chandler, stated that she eased her mount down over
the concluding stages of the race as the gelding had performed below expectations and was
a beaten horse when placed under pressure rounding the home-turn. Ms. Payne added, that in
her opinion, she thought something was amiss with Colonel Chandler. A subsequent
Veterinary Examination of Colonel Chandler revealed that the gelding was showing signs of
        a respiratory ailment.
Race 8 - LEURA HOTEL CLASS 1 HANDICAP
         M. Evans, rider of Exclusive Godthree (NZ) which
performed poorly, stated that his mount over-raced in the early stages of the race and
then weakened badly after being placed under pressure prior to the home-turn. A subsequent
Veterinary Examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. After passing the 600 metres,
Arc's Shadow shifted out and became unbalanced. Near the 400 metres, Bacardi had to be
