RACE 1 SMOKE-FREE/SABIS MAIDEN
PLATE:
Mr. R. Nicholson, Trainer of
AMIROVITCH, was fined $50 for the late declaration of rider.
Mr. R. Jackway, Trainer of WAROOKA ROSE,
was fined $100 for failing to notify a declaration of rider.
Stewards questioned P. Marks as to why he
doubly engaged himself on GREAT WHITE EAGLE and ECHOLADE in this event. After taking
evidence from P. Marks, Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by P. Marks.
AMIROVITCH (J. Dertilis) and INIMITABLE (T.
Barras) were slow away.
In the vicinity of the 600 metres PANNING
FOR GOLD (J. Lyon) was inconvenienced by GREAT WHITE EAGLE (P. Marks), who in turn was
tightened by LEGS (J. Potter), who was taken in by MONDERWYK (S. Harrison) which shifted
in slightly. Stewards advised all riders concerned of their obligations in similar
circumstances. Following this incident PANNING FOR GOLD raced ungenerously for some
distance.
Over the concluding stages LEGS (J. Potter)
changed direction on several occasions.
A swab sample was taken from MONDERWYK,
winner of the race.
RACE 2 CARLTON LIGHT CLASS D
HANDICAP:
EDVOKIA (H. McKechnie) jumped away
awkwardly.
JONS LISA (A. Stead) and ADVENTUROUS
BOY (R. Faehr) were slow to begin.
A swab sample was taken from LOLA, winner
of the race.
RACE 3 THE BARRETT
DISTRIBUTORS FLYING HANDICAP:
DEVITO (S. Harrison) was slow to
begin.
In the vicinity of the 150 metres BAY OF
SUNSHINE (M. Munday) was disappointed for a run between BONTARRI (K. Post) and JAKEMO (T.
Barras).
Correct Weight was delayed in being
semaphored for this event to allow T. Barras, rider of JAKEMO 2nd Placegetter,
to view the Official photo-finish print. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards,
Correct Weight was declared.
RACE 4 WICKHAM FLOWER &
C0. CLASS 1 HANDICAP:
HIGHWAY OF DREAMS (H. McKechnie)
and RUBIREIGN (J. Burgess) collided shortly after the start.
RACE 5 JOLPAC/SABIS MAIDEN
PLATE:
LIFT (J. Lyon) and GO EMMA (R.
Faehr) were slow to begin.
R. Faehr reported to Stewards his gate was
slow to open. After viewing the official film of the start, Stewards ruled GO EMMA was a
starter.
Mr. J. Searle, Trainer of LIFT, was advised
by Stewards that a warning had been placed on the gelding in relation to its barrier
manners.
In the vicinity of the 700 metres
MARRYS PRIDE (J. Julian) had to ease, owing to GO EMMA (R. Faehr) shifting in under
riding.
R. Faehr was advised by Stewards of his
obligations when shifting ground.
RACE 6 BORDERTOWN HOTEL
DISTANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP:
OUR ENTOURAGE (J. Dertilis) reared
at the start and lost some ground.
Stewards questioned K. Post, rider of the 2nd
Placegetter CHECKAROO, into his riding of the gelding over the concluding stages of the
race. K. Post stated that he placed the horse under whip riding until the final 100 metres
of the race. At that point CHECKAROO shifted in and on straightening his mount he
continued to ride hands and heels until the 50 metres, when he resorted to riding with the
whip for the remainder of the race. K. Post was advised by Stewards to ride in a manner in
future that cannot be questioned by Stewards. |
