Rail: Normal Position.

RACE 1 – FIELDERS/COWELL MAIDEN PLATE (Division 1)

The start of this race was delayed several minutes due to MONDO FLYER (G. Hoobin) and TARPEIA (W. Hokai) needing to be re-saddled.

MISTER VINTAGE (J. Lorensini) was slow to begin.

Trainer, Mr. D. O’Leary, was fined the sum of $50 for failing to produce the Document of Description for SECRET BROTHER. As the Stewards were able to identify SECRET BROTHER from computer records held by them, the gelding was permitted to start. Mr. O’Leary was advised that he would be required to produce the Document of Description before the gelding raced again.

RACE 2 – TRADELINK/STRAMIT MAIDEN PLATE (Division 2)

BALFADEZ (K. Louca), NOT RELIABLE (G. Hoobin) and NAME IT (B. Vale) were slow to begin.

Racing to the 800 metres OUR MANDATE (NZ) (W. Hokai) brushed the running rail and lost ground.

RACE 3 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY MAIDEN PLATE

NAZGALOV (J. Julian) was slow to begin.

ROMANTIC LOUIE (T. Barras) jumped away awkwardly and inconvenienced CHESTERFIELD (W. Hokai), which in turn inconvenienced KATOOSH (K. Louca).

PANNING FOR GOLD (K. Post) raced erratically in the early stages of the race.

Mr. J. Searle, trainer of PANNING FOR GOLD, was advised that a warning had been placed on that gelding with respect to its racing manner and a repetition could lead to action being taken against it.

RACE 4 – DYCER CONSTRUCTION/FOODLAND CLASS 4 HANDICAP

G. Hoobin replaced W. Hokai as the rider of KEEPALANTE due to W. Hokai being doubly engaged owing to a misunderstanding with Mr. D. O’Leary, trainer of KEEPALANTE.

The start of this race was delayed to avoid a clash with an interstate race.

Racing to the 800 metres SOCIAL ECHO (B. Vale) shifted in and inconvenienced PRIME MONARCH (P. Marks), which further inconvenienced GOLDEN WHIRL (K. Post).

Racing to the 700 metres DOLLAR DAZZLER (NZ) (M. Munday), which had been hanging out throughout the race, shifted out inconveniencing FLICK’S IMAGE (W. Hokai) and CLAYTONDYER (T. Barras).

RACE 5 – BORDERTOWN HOTEL DISTANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP

Correct Weight was delayed in being semaphored for this event to allow J. Lorensini, rider of ALL BLACK SYMPHONY, and T. Barras, rider of HEADACHE, to view the developed photo finish of the race and after doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

DANGER CHARGER (B. Vale) and TKACHEV (S. Harrison) were slow to begin.

MIRROR GAZE (C. Puls) jumped away awkwardly.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TKACHEV (S. Harrison) had to be checked to avoid the heels of HEADACHE (T. Barras) when that gelding rolled out slightly.

TKACHEV lost its off hind plate during the running of the race.

RACE 6 – WOOLSHED INN BORDERTOWN CUP

Correct Weight for this event was delayed in being semaphored to allow C. Robertson, rider of the second placegetter OUR STRIKE BREAKER (NZ), to view the developed print of the finish and after doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

A swab sample was taken from RUBITON ROAD, winner of the race.

JEALTS EXPRESS (B. Vale) was slow to begin.

Over the concluding 100 metres of the race HALO AT RISK (W. Hokai) was unable to obtain a clear run at any stage.

RACE 7 – TATIARA MEAT COMPANY CHRISTMAS HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from STRETTA, winner of the race.

BONTARRI (T. Barras) jumped away awkwardly and inconvenienced AMA’S SON (J. Dertilis), which also jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Racing to the 400 metres STRETTA (J. Potter) was help up for a run for a short distance.

Racing to the 200 metres ON THE RANCH (G. O’Loughlin) rolled in which resulted in SANGHA RIVER (W. Hokai) being disappointed for a run until approaching the 50 metre mark, where that gelding obtained a clear run.

G. Hoobin, rider of LOS TORNEROS, dropped his whip racing to the 100 metres. G. Hoobin was advised that a repetition could result in action being taken against him.

RACE 8 – JOHN PAYNE TOYOTA CLASS 1 HANDICAP

BANC O’ GOLD was withdrawn by order of the Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, at 4.20 pm. All bets on BANC O’ GOLD were declared off. Bets on other runners were reduced at the rate of twelve cents in the dollar for the win and eleven cents in the dollar for the place.

Mr. M. McLauchlan, trainer of BANC O’ GOLD, was advised that the mare had been found to be suffering soreness in its near side foreleg and he would be required to produce a Veterinary Certificate before accepting for the mare again.

Correct Weight was delayed in being semaphored for this event to allow M. Munday, rider of the third placegetter DIESEL DRIVEN (NZ), to view the official photo finish of the race and upon doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

POWER TO WIN (B. Vale) was slow to begin.

Stewards questioned T. Barras, rider of CAPTIVATE YOU, regarding that mare’s performance. T. Barras advised Stewards that he was of the opinion that CAPTIVATE YOU had not handled the tight track and as a result had raced very wide and finished very wide on the track. Stewards noted T. Barras’ explanation.
