Race 1 - Peter Amor Motors Super Vobis 3yo
Maiden Plate (1) 1400 Metres
Prior to correct weight, N Rawiller rider of Times Ripe,
fourth placegetter, viewed the Stewards' patrol videos before deciding not to lodge an
objection.
Shortly after the start, Lester Thunderwing had to be eased
to avoid the heels of Nazdek which shifted in.
Near the 1200 metres Times Ripe had to be checked when
tightened for room by Transferral, (Noel Callow), which initially shifted in. The
interference was then aggravated due to Transferral then having to be eased off the heels
of Barmaid Rules (Wayne Davis), which shifted in. After taking all the circumstances into
account, the Stewards severely reprimanded Noel Callow for initially shifting in when not
clear, and notified Wayne Davis to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
When the pace slackened approaching the 1000 metres, Times
Ripe had to be checked off the heels of Where's Davo.
After passing the 1000 metres Nazdek had to be checked off
the heels of Test Eagle.
On the home turn, Miss Master Key shifted out and bumped
Transferral and as a result Miss Master Key became unbalanced.
Subsequent to the race, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon
reported that Test Eagle had received lacerations to its off hind leg.
Race 2 - Cressbells Dry Cleaners Super
Vobis 3yo Maiden Plate (2) 1400 Metres
Near the 1100 metres, Tan Tat Joy which was over-racing,
was tightened for room by Woodsie, which shifted in to avoid the heels of Valaana. Woodsie
then shifted out and hampered Gold Coup.
Subsequent to the race, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon
reported that Gold Coup was showing signs of soreness in its off foreleg.
Race 3 - Tracy Placement People Fillies
& Mares Maiden Plate 1000 Metres

Race 4 - Ballarat Lodge Maiden Plate 1400

Subsequent to the race, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon
reported that Jungle Trail had suffered a wound to its near hind leg.
Race 5 - Worksafe Victoria Fillies &
Mares Class 3 Hcp 1600 Metres

Race 6 - Carlton Draught Miners Hcp 1600
Metres
On jumping away, B Fenech, rider of Hastings, became
unbalanced.
Passing the 1200 metres Olokai, which was over-racing,
shifted out to avoid the heels of Perfect Sting, and as a result hampered China Syndrome
and Bronze Roulette.
Throughout the race Hywel Legend hung out.
Race 7 - Troa Sport 927 Class 2 Hcp 1200
Metres
The Miracle (NZ) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 1000 metres, The Miracle, which was racing ungenerously, had to be eased
to avoid the heels of Joyance, which shifted in.
Reece Wheeler, rider of The Miracle, which had performed
below expectations, explained to the Stewards that the gelding raced ungenerously in the
early and middle stages of the race, and failed to respond to his riding in the straight.
A veterinary examination of The Miracle subsequent to the race failed to reveal any
abnormality.
Race 8 - J C Milton & Kerckhaert Class
4 Hcp 1400 Metres
Your Mate was slow to begin.
Passing the 600 metres Prince Quay shifted out and bumped
Negate.
N Rawiller, rider of Subversive, which had performed below
expectations, stated to the Stewards that the gelding travelled well until the early part
of the straight, when Subversive failed to respond to his riding. A veterinary examination
of Subversive subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality.
D Nikolic rider of Negate (NZ) which performed below
expectation, stated to the Stewards that after travelling well in the early stages of the
race, the gelding commenced to lay out away from Prince Quay around the home turn and then
failed to respond to his riding from that point. A veterinary examination of Negate
subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 9 - Emcees Catering Class 1 Hcp 1600
Metres
Prior to correct weight being declared, Jamie Anstice rider
of Backstreet Boy, 5th placegetter, stated to the Stewards that in his opinion
he had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Mr P Morgan, Trainer of
Backstreet Boy and J Anstice, rider of the gelding, Mr S Wall, Starter, Mr B Erhardt,
Barrier Attendant, , and Dr B Sidebottom, Veterinary Surgeon, and viewing the Stewards
patrol videos, Backstreet Boy was declared a starter. It was established that Backstreet
Boy, which had been fractious in its stall, was relucatant to jump away and lost
considerable ground.
On the home turn Billy Terror shifted out and bumped Aztec
Copper.
On arrival at the barrier, Ruxette was examined by the
Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
Stan Aitken rider of Ruxette who had performed below
expectations explained to the Stewards that the gelding travelled well until passing the
600 metres where from that point Ruxette failed to respond to his riding. A veterinary
examination of Ruxette subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab
sample was ordered to be taken from Ruxette.
FINES & EXPLANATIONS
The explanation given by Mr. S Webb trainer of Vettori Gold
in Race 2 regarding his late notification of L Currie as the rider of the colt was
accepted.
