*R. Aitken was severely reprimanded for having accepted two
rides in the one race.
Race 1 - Nebozuk Carpwra 3-Y-O & Up Maiden
Plate - 1200 Metres:
Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mrs. W. Kelly
trainer of "Cheque Book Blitz" who stated that the gelding had injured its head
in the float and was unfit to run the stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Cheque Book
Blitz" at 10:30am. Mrs. Kelly will submit a Veterinary Certificate in respect of the
gelding.
Acting on a Report from the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon that
"Umight" had suffered a wound to the near foreleg and was unfit to run the
stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Umight at 12:09pm.
Stewards received a telephone call from Mr. R. Laing Master
of Apprentice R. Martin who stated that his apprentice had been engaged to ride
"Discard" by Mr. P. Hallam trainer of the gelding, however subsequent to the
riders notification time Mr. Hallam replaced R. Martin with M. Pumpa. Mr. Laing further
stated that he believed R. Martin was entitled to a winning or losing riding fee. After
taking evidence from trainer Mr. P. Hallam the stewards notified him that it was their
decision that Mr. R. Martin is entitled to a winning or losing riding fee.
"War Abandoned (NZ) and "Conscription"
jumped away awkwardly
Shortly after the start "Adir" shifted out and
tightened "Discard" onto "Rouge Chaperon".
Race 2 - Bakers Delight Super Vobis 3-Y-O Maiden
Plate - 1600 Metres:
Approaching the 1200 metres "Outlet Creek" which
was over-racing clipped the heels of "Alarum" and almost fell.
Near the 100 metres "Officer Barbrady" was
accidentally struck on the head by the whip of J. Nevin rider of "Cesium".
Race 3 - Ballarat Veterinary Practice 3-Y-O &
Up Maiden Plate - 2200 Metres:
"Brooklyn Roads" bounded in the air on jumping
away and lost ground.
Shortly after the start "Bank Interest",
"Moderator" and "Erbourne" were all hampered when tightened for room
between "Stealth Knight" which shifted in slightly and "Annette" which
shifted out.
Approaching the winning post the first time "Bank
Interest" had to be eased off the heels of "Mars' Luck" which shifted in.
"Mars' Luck" than had to be eased off the heels of "Stealth Knight".
Race 4 - Tracy The Placement People Fillies &
Mares Class 1 Handicap - 1000 Metres:
No report.
Race 5 -Ballarat Lodge Open Handicap - 1100
Metres:
"Road To Success" jumped away awkwardly and lost
ground.
"Foromor (NZ)" was slow to begin.
Race 6 -Worksafe Victoria Fillies & Mares
Class 3 Handicap - 1600 Metres:
Throughout the race "Deux Mille" hung out.
Race 7 -Carlton Draught Class 4 Handicap - 2200
Metres:
D. Missen rider of "Ski Comish" 5th
placegetter was fined $200 for having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
The stewards believed D. Missen actions effected the result for 4th placing.
A veterinary examination of "Inala Lass" "
which performed below exportations revealed the mare suffered a laceration to its near
hind pastern.
Race 8 - Dowling Views
Function Centre Class 2 Handicap - 1400 Metres:
On jumping away "Rittmeister" was tightened for
room between "Built Him" and "Century Bridge" which was taken out by
"Royal Tempest".
Approaching the 1100 metres "Arterial" had to be
checked when tightened for room by "Royal Tempest" (D. Smith) which shifted in
when not sufficiently clear. D. Smith was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when
not clear.
FINES AND EXPLATIONS -
Race 7 - D. Missen rider of "Ski Comish" 5th
placegetter was fined $200 for having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
The stewards believed D. Missen actions effected the result for 4th placing.
Miss C. Payne was fined $200 for having used her mobile
telephone in the jockey's room.
