RACE 1 BARDRILL SABIS FILLIES AND
MARES MAIDEN PLATE:
YOUNG SMYTZER (H. McKechnie) jumped
away awkwardly.
In the vicinity of the 900 metres SACAGAWEA
(J. Lorensini) and NEPAL (W. Kerford) came together when racing tight inside TRUZONE (D.
Azis). Shortly after TRUZONE was taken in by RUBY SAL (Darren Holland), resulting in
TRUZONE shifting in and tightening NEPAL onto SACAGAWEA, which struck the running rail and
laid back. This resulted in NEPAL being hampered and TRUZONE having to be steadied.
Darren Holland was reprimanded and advised
in future to give riders the room to which they were entitled.
Making the turn near the 800 metres NIGHT
FANCY (S. Camilleri) shifted out, taking RUBY SAL (Darren Holland) and TRUZONE (D. Azis)
wider on the track.
In the vicinity of the 200 metres NEPAL (W.
Kerford), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in under pressure and for a short distance
was reluctant to shift away from the heels of SACAGAWEA (J. Lorensini).
Approaching the 100 metres BETTA FORTUNE
(J. Holder) was inconvenienced as a result of RED COLLEEN (D. Tootell) shifting out off
the heels of NIGHT FANCY (S. Camilleri).
RUBY SAL suffered a laceration to its off
hind hoof.
WITH ALACRITY suffered a puncture wound to
the near hind leg during the race.
RACE 2 BAKER YOUNG MAIDEN
PLATE:
The start of this race was delayed
owing to GREG dislodging its rider, M. Neilson, on the way to the gates. GREG was quickly
recaptured and returned to the start riderless. A Veterinary inspection ruled the gelding
fit to start. M. Neilson was examined by the Ambulance Personnel and ruled fit to ride.
CASH OAKIE (H. McKechnie) jumped away
awkwardly.
YEAH BABY (S. Price) jumped away awkwardly
and thereafter was reluctant to race close to other runners, and making the turn into the
straight hung out.
In the vicinity of the 500 metres CASH
OAKIE (H. McKechnie), which got its head up and was inclined to hang out, shifted out and
brushed DAINATUNE (P. Gatt), which became unbalanced.
Inside the 300 metres GREG (M. Neilson)
contacted the hindquarters of EL DRAILS (B. Vale), turning that mares
hindquarters out, resulting in EL DRAILS becoming unbalanced for a short distance.
M. Neilson was severely reprimanded for
attempting to take a run where there was insufficient room, and advised in future to only
attempt to make ground where there was sufficient room.
In the vicinity of the 300 metres VICE
VANITY (D. Carney) shifted out abruptly, taking LANDDROST (W. Kerford) out onto STANSBY
(Murray Henderson), resulting in both runners being inconvenienced.
DAINATUNE suffered a laceration to the near
hind fetlock during the race.
RACE 3 EXCEL RENTA CAR MAIDEN
PLATE:
C. Lindop replaced L. Smith as the
rider of EMBARKA, owing to L. Smith reporting ill.
MARIZZIQUE was inspected by the Clubs
Veterinary Surgeon, prior to the start, and ruled fit to race.
Approaching the 1300 metres ISSAPARDEE (T.
Creek) shifted in onto EMBARKA (C. Lindop), taking that mare in onto SWITCH VISION (G.
Dorol), which was tightened onto PASSION KILA (B. Claridge), which shifted in at the same
time as the filly had commenced to race ungenerously. This resulted in SMYTZERS TARO
(J. Lorensini), which was racing inside PASSION KILA, clipping the heels of that filly and
losing its position. Shortly after this incident, in being steadied off the heels of
ISSAPARDEE as the pace slackened, JIMANITA (Darren Holland) shifted out and severely
hampered PASSION KILA, which got its head up when being restrained.
T. Creek was advised that although not
entirely responsible for this incident, he must give riders on his inside the room to
which they are entitled in future. He was further advised against taking the pace off in
the manner in which he did on his occasion.
In the vicinity of the 700 metres PASSION
KILA (B. Claridge) was obliged to steady off the heels of EL ZANA (D. Carney), resulting
in SMYTZERS TARO (J. Lorensini) having to steady off its heels and shift out. PROUD
GAZE (J. Holder) was hampered in consequence.
SWITCH VISION suffered a laceration to near
hind cannon during the race.
RACE 4 ARISTOCRAT 4 YEARS
& UP CLASS 1 HANDICAP:
BANC O GOLD (A. Stead) got
its head up and jumped away awkwardly.
BANC O GOLD (A. Stead) raced greenly
in the middle stages of the race.
A routine swab sample was taken from
VERDOT, winner of the race.
RACE 5 COOPERS CLASS 5
HANDICAP:
OUR KING COUNTY (D. Carney) jumped
away awkwardly.
RACE 6 PRICES BAKERY
CLASS 3 HANDICAP:
SCARLET (S. Price) reared as the
gates opened and missed the start.
Mr. W. Lewis, representing Mr. M. Lewis
Trainer of ROSEANNE, was questioned regarding the papers for the mare not being available
on course. After considering Mr. Lewis explanation he was fined $50 under ARR 59A.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of SWIFTLY, which displayed a slower than normal recovery rate, revealed no
visible abnormalities.
RACE 7 MALAYSIA AIRLINES CLASS
2 HANDICAP:
Prior to the start of this event
LADY RANSOM, which had been kicked behind the gates, was inspected by the Clubs
Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.
PEKOE (D. Carney) was slow to jump.
CHOCOLATE ÉCLAIR (M. Neilson) jumped away
awkwardly.
CASH IN A FLASH (C. Lindop) reared as the
gates opened and jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 1300 metres DEVITO (B.
Claridge) was obliged to steady off the heels of LIMERICK FLYER (T. Creek), which was
being restrained.
In the vicinity of the 800 metres PEKOE (D.
Carney) shifted out after being tightened momentarily and became unbalanced for a short
distance.
A Veterinary inspection of CASH IN A FLASH,
subsequent to the race, revealed that the gelding had loosened a tooth in a barrier
incident.
RACE 8 SMOKE-FREE SABIS
THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP:
C. Lindop replaced L. Smith as the
rider of DEMOLITION DAME.
Approaching the 300 metres TWEAK (T. Creek)
was unable to obtain clear ground for some distance, until near the 100 metres when he
obtained a run between MECHANIC (W. Kerford) which rolled out, and DEMOLITION DAME (C.
Lindop).
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of COUPE DE BLU revealed the gelding may have jarred up on todays going. |
