Race 1 - Diocesan Development Fund F & M
Maiden Plate - 1600m - Acting on a report from the Starter that Dens Park had
proved difficult to load into the barrier, the Stewards notified Mr. R. Treloar,
representing Mr. L. Treloar trainer of the filly, that an official warning would be placed
on Dens Park and that he must produce a Barrier Certificate prior to it racing again.
Bread Maker, Pertreece and Marincanto were slow to begin.
On jumping away Brown Eagle knuckled.
Approaching the 1000 metres Zacoby (NZ) was tightened for
room between Delightful Attire, which initially shifted out slightly, and Dens Park, which
then shifted in. When being tightened Zacoby (NZ) clipped the heels of Dens Park and
almost fell. As a result Bicentennial, which was following, was severely hampered.
On the home turn African Lady had to be eased off the heels
of Delightful Attire , which shifted out.
On straightening Delightful Attire shifted out and
inconvenienced Dens Park.
Near the 200 metres In Red was tightened for room between
Pertreece, which shifted in slightly, and Alfah Scene, which shifted out.
Race 2 - Jack Drechsler Memorial Hurdle - 3000m
- W. Smith rider of Pitt Boss Kiss (NZ) stated that he eased his mount down in the early
part of the straight as he believed the gelding was a beaten horse and was failing to
respond to his riding.
A Veterinary examination of Jethro subsequent to the race
revealed the gelding had received wounds to its off fore leg.
Passing the 1500 metres Pitt Boss Kiss (NZ) had to be
checked when tightened for room by Skaddam, which was taken in by Gentle Habits (R.
Maund). R. Maund was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.
On landing over the hurdle near the 1000 metres Super
Revenir knuckled and lost ground.
Race 3 - Bendigo Telephone Company/Triple C-FM SV
3YO Maiden Plate (1) - 1400m - Acting on a report from
the Starter that Determinator (NZ) had proved difficult to load into the barriers, the
Stewards notified Mr. A. Evett, representing Mr. C. Brown, trainer of the colt, that an
official warning would be placed on Determinator (NZ) and that he must produce a Barrier
Certificate prior to it racing again.
Benarrivo (NZ) jumped away awkwardly.
Race 4 - John Curtin Memorial SV 3YO Maiden Plate
(2) - 1400m - Shortly after the start Adelphi Bay was tightened for room
between Barometer Falling and Honour Her Name, which shifted in.
Approaching the 1200 metres Pearl Quest had to be eased
when tightened for room between High De Lago, which shifted out and Bonnington, which was
taken in slightly by Barometer Falling.
Near the 1200 metres High De Lago had to be eased off the
heels of Bonnington, which when hanging in, shifted in.
When the pace slackened approaching the 1000 metres
Bonnington, High De Lago, Thrash and Pearl Quest all had to be checked off the heels of
other runners.
In the middle stages of the race Adelphi Bay over-raced.
Also in the middle stages of the race Spring Rocket hung
out.
Approaching the winning post High De Lago, which was
hanging in, shifted in under pressure and inconvenienced Honour Her Name.
Race 5 - Ray Wild Plumbing SV 3YO Maiden Plate -
1100m - Shortly after the start Tragowel's Pride attempted to buck and shifted
in abruptly losing considerable ground. Mrs. G. Trevena trainer of the gelding was
notified that Tragowel's Pride was suspended from racing until such time it trials to the
satisfaction of the Stewards.
Race 6 - Brian Dunn Bendigo Marong Cup - 2200m
- Passing the winning post the first time Silverbit, which was pulling, accidentally
clipped the heels of Rocky Sunrise and knuckled.
Turning out of the straight Kaaptonite had to be eased when
tightened for room between Tonvenor and Masaki, which was taken in slightly by Weary.
Shortly after straightening Narcissism was hampered when
tightened for room between Kaaptonite (C. Symons), which shifted out and Red Rorke which
shifted in slightly. C Symons was reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.
Race 7 - Elders/VP Class 2 Handicap - 1000m
- Near the 800 metres Madame Who shifted in and brushed Negate (NZ).
Approaching the 600 metres Coronation Lass (NZ) had to be
eased off the heels of Jest Paula (D. Yates), which shifted in. Coronation Lass (NZ) then
shifted out abruptly and as a result hampered Negate (NZ) and Madame Who. D. Yates will be
notified to ensure he is clear of other runners before shifting ground in future. Shortly
after this Negate (NZ), which was over-racing shifted in to avoid the heels of Coronation
Lass (NZ) and as a result hampered Zashmir.
Passing the 200 metres Madame Who, which was weakening, had
to be eased off the heels of Negate (NZ), which shifted out.
Race 8 - Tooheys New Class 4 Handicap - 1500m
- Perfect Sting was slow to begin.
Race 9 - Rising Sun Hotel Class 1 Handicap - 1300m
- Lady Poetess was slow to begin.
On jumping away Lightning Strikes was tightened for room
between Gostani, which shifted in slightly, and Mythical Bid, which shifted out.
Approaching the 800 metres Coldark had to be eased when
tightened for room by Danzadane, which was taken in by Carnival Magic (R. Cartwright),
which shifted in. R. Cartwright was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not
clear.
Near the 200 metres Gostani had to be eased when tightened
for room between Skyworks, which initially shifted out and Carnival Magic, which shifted
in.
Approaching the 100 metres Skyworks had to shift out to
obtain a run on the outside of Carnival Magic.
SWAB SAMPLES - Swab samples were taken from
the following winners - Zacoby (NZ) (Race 1), Texas Blues (NZ) (Race 4), Beach Box (Race
5), Rocky Sunrise (Race 6), Persistence Pays (Race 8) |
