Race 1 - Ten Victoria SV 2YO C & G Maiden Plate - 1000m

On jumping away Polisky was hampered by Monee Lane, which shifted in and Snap To It began awkwardly.

In the early part of the straight Monee Lane had to be eased slightly when disappointed for a run between College Crest (NZ) and Enthusiast, when attempting a run where there was insufficient room.

Approaching the 200 metres Snap To It had to be eased when tightened for room by Broadband, which after being initially taken in by College Crest (NZ), shifted in away from that colt.

Near the 200 metres Monee Lane had to be eased when again attempting a run between College Crest (NZ) and Enthusiast, which shifted in slightly.

Near the 50 metres College Crest (NZ) shifted in and brushed Broadband.

Approaching the winning post Snap To It had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Race 2 - J M Leech Jewellers SV 2YO F Maiden Plate - 1000m

Approaching the home turn Emitella hung out.

After passing the 200 metres Blue Princess, which was weakening, had to be checked when tightened for room between Ancient Valley and Soto Grande, which shifted in. D. Oliver was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

S. Baster rider of Blue Princess, which performed below expectations, could offer no explanation for the filly's performance. A subsequent Veterinary examination of Blue Princess revealed no apparent abnormality.

Race 3 - Golden City Refrigeration SV 3YO Maiden Plate - 1600m

Lynches was slow to begin.

Near the 200 metres The Concert Grand and Dieu's Place bumped and became unbalanced due to both horses shifting ground.

N. Callow rider of Grafton Street, which weakened badly in the home straight, stated that the gelding travelled well to the home turn but was a beaten horse when placed under pressure prior to straightening. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

Race 4 - Cambrian Hotel Maryborough Class 1 Handicap - 1600m

Gothic Empire was slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages of the race Ming D'Or had a tendency to over-race.

Rounding the home turn Pantani (NZ), Ming D'Or and Rittmeister were all held up for a run.

In the early part of the straight Rittmeister, which continued to have difficulty obtaining a run, changed course and in doing so hampered Ming D'Or.

On return to scale K. McEvoy rider of Brandenburg stated that in his opinion the gelding had been galloped on behind. A veterinary report of Ming D'Or revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its off hind leg.

Race 5 - Emeu Inn Restraurant Handicap - 1400m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. L.Hope trainer of Raise A Breeze who stated that when the gelding was being loaded it sustained a cut to its off knee and was unfit to run, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Raise A Breeze at 12.10 p.m. Mr. Hope will submit a Veterinary Certificate in respect of Raise A Breeze to the Club.

When the gates were released Celtic Revenge (NZ) bounded in the air and lost considerable ground.

Enthous (NZ) and Sand Belt were slow to begin.

When the pace slackened near the 800 metres Mamoloni had to be checked off the heels of Sir Boom. Mamoloni then shifted out and inconvenienced Sand Belt.

Approaching the winning post Sand Belt had to be eased when tightened for room between Knockroe and Mamoloni, which shifted in slightly.

Race 6 - Peter Mulqueen Memorial Class 2 F & M Handicap - 1100m

At the entrance to the straight Gejastjo shifted out and inconvenienced Chardarri.

Near the 200 metres Gejastjo, which was shifting in, had to be eased off the heels of Costa De Plenty, which was shifting out away from Core She Can.

B. Rawiller rider of Classic Jewel, stated that he eased his mount down over the concluding stages as in his opinion something was amiss with its action. A subsequent veterinary examination of Classic Jewel revealed no apparent abnormality.

Race 7 - Tooheys New Class 4 Handicap - 1300m

Prior to correct weight being declared K. McEvoy rider of Sabre Sonic, 2nd placegetter requested to view the Stewards patrol video of the home straight with a view to lodging an objection. After viewing the video K. McEvoy did not proceed with an objection.

Near the 1100 metres Zidane had to be eased when tightened for room between Moxiebustion and Comtrice, which shifted out slightly.

D. Oliver rider of Moxiebustion, which performed poorly, stated that the gelding was caught wide throughout the race, and then failed to respond to his riding in the straight. A subsequent veterinary examination of Moxiebustion revealed no abnormality.

Race 8 - Gerard K House Class 1 Handicap - 2400m

On jumping away Kapalua Bay was hampered when tightened for room between Dolphin Way and Momentum Man (NZ), which was taken out by Zabenz (NZ).

Shortly after the start Kapalua Bay had to be checked when tightened for room between Momentum Man (NZ) and Awaken The Giant (NZ) (G. Murphy), which shifted in. G. Murphy was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

After passing the winning post the first time Yo Picasso, which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of Titus (NZ) , which eased after initially crossing that gelding. When being checked Yo Picasso shifted out and bumped Trump That out over the heels of Backstreet Boy. Spider Bite, which was following, shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of Yo Picasso and in doing so clipped the heels of Trump That and almost fell. After taking into account all the circumstances and as the Stewards did not hold any one rider responsible for the incident no action was taken.

After passing the 900 metres My Belle Amie (NZ), which was pulling hard, had to be eased off the heels of Yo Picasso.

Rounding the home turn Zabenz (NZ) was hampered when tightened for room between Kapalua Bay, which shifted out slightly and Round Century, which when weakening badly, was tightened slightly by Audrey's Knight.

SWAB SAMPLES

Random swab samples were taken from the following winners - Enthusiast (Race 1), Penny Ash (Race 2), Dolphin Way (Race 8)

Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners - Bonnington (Race 4), General Feelgood (Race 5),

Five horses were today pre-race tested for post race analysis.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reason for C. Quilty failing to fulfil his engagement of Sedgy (Race 8)
