NT 1: CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1100 METRES 5 STARTERS

T GILLETT replaced D TURNER (a) as the rider of AWSOME DIAMOND when D TURNER was indisposed. PAINTER (M Cornell) jumped inward forcing AWESOME DIAMOND (T Gillett) onto THING (B Huppatz). A protest was lodged by Jockey T THUISH, rider of ANTS against AWESOME DIAMOND (T Gillett) being placed 1st and PAINTER (M Cornell) being placed 2nd was dismissed after Stewards took evidence from those involved and viewing the patrol films of the race. Subsequent to the race Stewards found that AWESOME DIAMOND (T Gillett) had shifted out slightly in the last 100 metres of the race. Jockey T HUISH, rider of ANTS was informed by Stewards that his protest was bordering on being frivolous and action may be taken in future. It was reported to Stewards by Mr G CARIGE, trainer of BY JOE that the gelding had been injured in the run. A veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained severe cuts to his offside front legs and abrasions to his offside hind hock. A swab was also ordered to be taken from BY JOE.

1ST AWESOME DIAMOND 2ND PAINTER 3RD ANTS

NT 2: CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 5 STARTERS

FERNDALE (NZ) (B Huppatz) was slow to begin. FERNDALE (NZ) (B Huppatz) who was inclined to hang out at about the 400 metre mark had to be eased when FROZE shifted inward. Jockey B HUPPATZ rider of FERNDALE (NZ) 5th placed lodged a protest against FROZE (M Cornell) being placed 3rd for alleged interference in the last 100 metres of the race. After taking evidence from those involved and viewing the race videos Stewards dismissed the protest. Subsequent to the event Stewards found that M CORNELL, rider of FROZWE had allowed his mount to shift inward at about the 100 metre mark making no effort to stop riding and straighten his mount, resulting in FERNDALE (NZ) having to be checked severely. Jockey M CORNELL, rider of FROZE was charged by Stewards under ARR137(a) with Careless Riding. Jockey M CORNELL pleaded guilty to the charge and his licence to ride in races suspended up to and including 26.01.02.

1ST CONCENTO 2ND TARLAN 3RD FROZE

NT 3: CLASS D HANDICAP 1200 METRES 8 STARTERS

GOLD RACER (NZ) (T Norton) jumped inward as start effected. MAYBE MOLLY (H Gower) jumped awkwardly coming in contact with JAY ARE ARE (M Cornell).

1ST CLASSIC KHAN 2ND SIR ROMEO 3RD WORSHIPS A DRINK

NT 4: MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 7 STARTERS

Jockey T HUISH replaced D TURNER (a) as the rider of POWER MANE when D TURNER was indisposed. Prior to the start LUCKY LAURA threw her head back striking Jockey B CORNELL in the face. Jockey B CORNELL was placed at some disadvantage throughout the race. JOLLY JOHN (T Gillett) shied at about the 200 metre mark. SUPER DAMAH (T Norton) shifted in under pressure in the last 100 metres of the race.

1ST KOTARA 2ND SUPER DAMAH 3RD LUCKY LAURA

All winners were swabbed.

GENERAL

Mrs M MOORE, trainer of REGENCY OF MARAIS was fined the sum of $50 under ARR124 being late into the enclosure.

Apprentice D TURNER (a) was questioned by Stewards regarding accepting rides when unable to make the weight. Adjourned to a date to be advised.
