The full brother to Golden Slipper winner and
young stallion Catbird has stolen the spotlight at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale this
afternoon when he was sold for a record $1.1 million.
Offered by Vinery Australia, who were acting as an agent, the
colt was knocked down to leading Auckland based buyer Rob McAnulty.
McAnulty said the colt will remain in Australia was
"would probably be trained by Gerald Ryan."
The crowd hushed as the stunning bay colt entered the ring at
about 4.30pm and they weren't disappointed as bids came from all directions early.
Bids rose in $50,000 amounts from the original offering of
$400,000 until the price stood at $850,000, when a call of $1 million was received. Only
two more bids were received, each of $50,000, before bidding stalled at $1.1 million.

The colt's dam Fitting, a winner of the Gimcrack Stakes in
Sydney at two, is a sister to the Silver Slipper winner Maizcay as well as fellow stakes
winners Mzilikazi and Donna Cara, the latter being the dam of recent stakes winner Donna
        Dior.
The sire Danehill needs no introduction. He is the sire of
Group One stars Danzero, Flying Spur, Nothin' Leica Dane, Dane Ripper, Merlene, Danewin
and current day stars like Ha Ha and Moon Dragon. |
