The
first foal of Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel has been sold to Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud
just moments after being passed in during the early stages of the Conrad Jupiters Magic
Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. A
winner of seven races, Jezabeel was a dual Group One winner. At home in New Zealand she
won the Auckland Cup, another 3200 metre race.
Offered by Coolmore Stud as agent the filly is by the king of
Australian breeding Danehill. At stud Danehill's dominance has been virtually unrivalled
in Australia. His young sons are now making a name for themselves in the barn.
Bidding began at $100,000 and quickly jumped to $400,000
after three more bids. Bidding slowed with only two more bids and was passed in at
$475,000.
However, subsequent to the horse leaving the ring it was
announced the filly had been sold to Baramul Stud for the passed in price of $475,000.
Jezabeel isn't the only stakes winner from the immediate
family. Jezabeel's half sister is the Tasmanian Derby winner Ashley Grove.
Interestingly Jezabeel has since produced a filly by Danehill
and is again in foal to the champion sire. |
