Race 5 Shillabeer Plate 1100m
Empress Waltz settled just off the pace before losing
ground down the hill to the turn. On straightening Empress Waltz fanned wide to charge
after the leader Sunbury. Inside the final 50m Sunbury was fighting back strongly with
Chalonnaise and Empress Waltz n the outside. On the line Empress Waltz was too strong
winning narrowly from Sunbury with Chalonnaise third.
Race 6 Carlton Draught Hcp 1100m
Seek the Silk settled midfield as Keely's Gift led. By the
turn Seek The Silk was on the heels of the leaders and took over on straightening. Despite
late challenges from Amberlight and Classic Status, Seek the Silk had too much in hand to
win by a half head.
Race 7 - Clipsal Stakes LISTED
Libidinious raced wide in the early stages eventually
joining Price of Love in front. On straightening Libidinious raced clear of Price of Love
then Aptego and Manetti. Under hands and heels Libidinious easily held the late finish of
Bush Outlaw to win by a length with Flurry's Gem third.
Race 8 - Von Doussa Steeplechase

Maybe Rough led early from Crafty Dancer then Jarl and Our
Profiler with Nautilism well back. Into the straight the first time Maybe Rough led Crafty
Dancer and jarl then Our Profiler followed by Nautilism and Shamrock Dancer. Over the
fence after the fallen log on the final lap and Maybe Rough misjudged his effort and was
lucky to keep his feet as Crafty Dancer was joined by Jarl followed by Nautilism with Our
Profiler next. Around the turn Jarl led from Crafty Dancer and Maybe Rough with Nautilism
between them and a gap to the others. Over the final fence Jarl, Nautilism and Crafty
Dancer jumped together from Maybe Rough. On landing Nautilism showed superior flat ability
to race away to victory from Crafty Dancer with Jarl third.
Race 9 - Johnston Hcp 1900m
William of Oz settled well back but three wide early on. By
the 900m he was still wide but made ground to third. Around the turn Marcin On led but
William of Oz was giving chase. William of Oz hit the front by the 250m as Buffalo Power
ranged up and appeared to take the lead. William of Oz raised another effort over the
final 100m to win by a half length from Buffalo Power.
Race 10 - Channel 7 Hcp 1400m
Cathedral End settled well back near the rails. Around the
turn Cathedral End was still well back but started to make ground. On straightening
Cathedral End was taken wide on the track and started to charge at the leaders Tailight
and Rorting. Only a stride from the line Cathedral End grabbed the front to win by a nose
from Rorting with Tailight third. |
